Kenya Hajj Quota Increases

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The number of Kenyan pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year will be about 800 more than the previous year.

 

According to the Supreme Muslims Council of Kenya, there will be 4631 Hajj pilgrims making the spiritual journey from the African country this year.

The number stood at 3,800 last year, according to the Islamic body.

Yusuf Enzibu, head of the council, called on those who have registered for Hajj and it is their turn to make the pilgrimage this year to take the necessary steps, including vaccination, renewing passports, getting Hajj visas, etc) as soon as possible.

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city in Islam.

It is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world.

The holy pilgrimage is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.

Every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to perform the pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime.

Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. Islam is the religion of more than 11 percent of the Kenyan population, or approximately 4.3 million people.
